Educational Project

daycare educational project

In the educational project a distinction is made between the ages of the young children.
For both age groups (up to 18 months and 18-36 months) there are separate activity areas that correspond to the specific nature of the target groups.
For both age groups smaller, visually distinct areas are provided for activities with smaller groups.

The supervisory staff takes the specific needs of each child into account and provides appropriate activities, both individually and in groups. Stability and continuity are assured by way of a fixed and regular schedule.
The various rooms and teaching materials are adapted to the psychomotoric and expressive needs at each stage of the child’s development.
Weather permitting, outdoor activities are possible on the covered outdoor patio. Here too, age-appropriate toys are available for each age group.

On occasion, and only with the express permission of the parents, the children are allowed to participate in activities outside the school (e.g. the funfair in Huldenberg).
The school management and staff constantly update their proficiency in the fields of psychology, psychomotorics and child social skills. Refresher courses also focus on the relationship between parents and carers. Kind & Gezin (Child & Family) regularly organises workshops for which staff members of BabyBiebelBox are given time off.

1) Timetable for Infants (3 months to 18 months):
For this target group the special focus is on each child’s daily rhythm.
Periods of sleep, type of food, feeding times and stools are noted down every day and if necessary discussed with parents. All these aspects are noted on a form and monitored and discussed with the supervisor.

Nappies are changed at fixed times (at least twice a day), and are also adapted to meet the individual needs of the child.
To gradually introduce structure, infants’ meal times are based on a fixed schedule, while still taking account of possible exceptions (e.g. when a child needs more sleep).

Much attention is paid to the transition period between bottle feeding and solid food (vegetables, potatoes, minced fruit, etc.) and the transition to eating independently. Meals are always eaten at a fixed location in the activity area, where the children sit on special toddler-size chairs.

Care is taken that the children receive adequate rest and sleep. Separate rooms are provided.
Attention is paid to motivating the children both individually and in groups. Ample space is provided for developing the motor skills of each child. (Rolling, turning, crawling, walking, etc.). Attention is also given to expression such as music, dance steps, etc.

2) BiebelBox Timetable (18 months -36 months)
The progression to this age group is determined by the child’s ability to walk  and eat independently.
The daily routine is more regimented than for the youngest children.
1. Meal times and rest times are more clearly defined and have a fixed timetable.
2. A great deal of attention is paid to toilet training.

3. Motor skill development is stimulated in smaller groups by means of specific activities.
Activities are based on the seasons and the calendar.
Our location on the outskirts of Brussels means that the children we care for live in a multicultural and multilingual community. The Flemish Government requires by law that the language spoken is Dutch. Our staff are multilingual, however, which ensures easy contact with parents.
